A RECAP OF MY EPIC AUGUST 2022 TRIP
Have you ever visited a new destination and instantly felt a special connection to it? I have.
It happened in 2016, when alongside two good friends of mine, I visited Queenstown in New Zealand for the first time.
From the minute we touched down, I instantly fell in love with the cleanliness, natural beauty, restaurants and diversity.
Through COVID-19, as I longed for an international getaway, Queenstown sat at the top of my list of destinations to visit next (just above America’s Palm Springs).
So when the Australian borders reopened to international travel in early 2022, the first thing I did was book my mum and I a short vacation there from August 27th to the 31st.
Taking off from Brisbane International Airport, our three hour Qantas flight landed around 2pm before mum and I spent the afternoon settling in at the beautiful Hotel Crowne Plaza.
Because of the brief nature of our holiday, the next three days were hectic to say the least but it was magnificent to share several new experiences with mum who had never been to NZ.
Nicknamed “the adventure capital of the world” due to several thrill-seeking attractions, there’s plenty to do in the south island tourist hotspot.
Luckily, given the nature of the trip, I can confirm they don’t all revolve around getting an adrenaline rush!
Our notable highlights included a helicopter tour to Milford Sound and Fox Glacier, taking the gondola at Skyline to the restaurant (the view was epic!) and visiting the picturesque Glenorchy, Arrowtown and Wanaka.
Oh and how could I nearly forget enjoying a photoshoot with the talented Kate Craig Brown, checking out Coronet Peak Ski Field or dining at places like Ferg Bakery and Bella Cucina.
Queenstown, I’ll be back soon.
And if you’ve never been before, I recommend checking it out ASAP.
