It may have impacted you, a friend or relative, but we all know someone who’s been through it.

We’ve also all most likely witnessed the negative impact it can have on one’s confidence and psychological well being.

As a DHI International certified hair transplant surgeon and Hair Care Specialist, I wanted to share with you a set of frequently asked questions as an introduction to the subject.

Androgens (male hormones) gradually suppress or inhibit hair follicles in the scalp.

At what age does it usually start for men and what does it do?

Typically, Male Pattern Hair Loss starts by the age of 40 (some guys will even notice it in their late teenage years) and results in the hairline receding.

Are there any nationalities or races more prone to suffering from Male Pattern Hair Loss?

Statistically, Male Pattern Hair Loss tends to affect white men the most, followed by Asians, African Americans and is least common in Native Americans and Eskimos.
